    The Department of Ecology and Evolution at the University of Lausanne is looking for a talented full-stack remote-based programmer to continue the development and support of our established system. You will be working as part of our Barn Owls scientific team, maintaining, and updating an Android tablet application, a custom-built website, referencing several years of scientific data in our private database.     We collected data on barn owls during more than 30 years. Most of the data are already in the database and we need to improve its efficiency.

    This position requires someone with excellent communication skills who will collaborate with our team of scientists to convert ideas into systems and to help identify and recommend improvements to our process.  We need your help!

    Required Skills:

    • Java – Jersey/REST with a custom ORM
    • Android (Java)
    • Angular / HTML5
    • MariaDB or MySQL – strong database skills are necessary
    • Tomcat
    • Linux (Ubuntu)
    • SCSS / CSS

    We are searching for a long-term relationship. This is a remote role, but ideally the candidate should be located near Lausanne, Switzerland and be able to occasionally join us in person for meetings.

    The required amount of work per week can vary (on average 15 – 20 hours a week). Salary will depend on the applicant’s level of experience and we are open for discussion.
