CABI is an international, not-for-profit organization whose mission is to improve people’s lives worldwide by providing information and applying scientific expertise to solve problems in agriculture and the environment. CABI’s headquarters is located in the UK. One of our main areas of expertise at CABI Switzerland is invasive species prevention and control, in particular the so called classical biological control of these species by introducing specialized natural enemies from their area of origin.
CABI in Delémont, Switzerland is offering BSc or MSc students in Biology, Ecology, Agronomy or related fields a unique opportunity to gain experience in biological weed and insect control. The Centre is located about 40 km south of Basel in the Swiss Jura. Students with a background in entomology will be preferred.
The work involves host-specificity testing of potential biological control agents, insect collections and rearing, studies on life history, impact experiments, and investigations on pest population biology and parasitoid host interactions.
Time period: 1 – 7 months starting between April and June
- 2000 CHF per month for students with, or still completing a BSc
- 2500 CHF per month for students with, or still completing an MSc
